The mural we painted at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Was such an honour to do this commission. We painted this one with brush and acrylic on scaffold through the nights leading up to the games. It was a serious challenge but probably one of our favourite murals we've ever painted!
Published.
We just received our copy of Velo, featuring a couple of pages of artwork from our Spin on this show. As bike fans we are really pleased to be part of this project and if your into bikes or design on any level, this is a great collection of how one object can be interpreted in so many ways...
Go get it here!
White Bike Plan
If your about next Thursday, come for a ride...
WITTE FIETSENPLAN
(WHITE BIKE PLAN) CALL TO MASS RIDE OUT
Join the White Bike Ride Out at Glasgow International Festival of Visual Art
15th April 11:30am - 1pm
On the 15th April, art collective NVA will be releasing 50 White Bikes into Glasgow for the Glasgow International (Gi) Festival of Visual Art 2010 audience to use to travel between venues.
The White Bike Ride Out will create a re-enactment of the original Witte Fietsenplan (White Bike plan) - an anarchic free transport programme in Amsterdam started by the Provos, the Dutch counter culture movement of the 1960’s. The initiative was the source inspiration for the (PUB) Public Use Bicycle systems which has been updated and ‘officially’ replicated in cities worldwide.
The 50 White Bikes are being released into the city to celebrate the political and ecological drives behind the original action.
JOIN THE WHITE BIKE RIDE OUT!
For the Ride Out we’re asking as many cyclists as possible to join NVA & Central Station.
The White Bikes will ride en masse from Kelvingrove Park (meeting at 11:30am at the Fountain) to George Square, where there will be an action and proclamation of the original manifesto.
If yo have your own two wheels join the Ride Out from Kelvingrove Park, meeting at the Fountain at 11.30am.
The event will go on until around 1pm. Let us know you are coming here, and please invite other cyclists you think would like to join in.
HELP CREATE A FILM OF THE RIDE OUT
Central Station will be making a film of the Ride Out. In order to create as much impact as possible we want you, the public, to help us document the event.
Bring your video camera, bike cam, mobile phone - whatever you can get your hands on - and help us to record the day.
Upload your material as follows: put your films in our Vimeo group , add your stills to our White Bikes groupor to Central Station on Facebook.
We’ll collate the documentation & a film created from the footage will be posted on Central Station.
This film will belong to you, to share wherever you like. A document, a call to action, a crowd-sourced artwork. Join us.
Plus, if you love to Tweet, share your Ride Out experience and White Bike sightings, using the tag #whitebikes.
The White Bikes are available for use throughout the Festival to cycle between venues.
See full details of where to find the bikes here.
